Bordeaux

Francois Menaut

Situated in the village of Grezillac, which is located on a hill-side between Saint-Emilion and the river Dordogne, this vineyard covers an area of 12 hectares of clay-chalky soil and chalky subsoil. The wine is aged for one year in stainless steel tanks, followed by a further year in oak barrels (aged between one year and 5 years). The wine-maker, Francois Menaut, neither filtrates his wine in order to retain all its aromatic potential. This requires precise racking (“soutirage”) of the tanks and barrels. Once the wine is in the barrels, it is topped up monthly.

Bordeaux “Cuvée la Menade” 2012 75 cl

90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec. Ageing: half aged a year in barrels (1,2,3 wines) and half in tank.
Only produce in year when the plot of Merlot is stunning on its own. Another winemaker’s masterpiece from Francois Menaut.

"It is offering a lot of ripeness, and purity of fruit, showing fine roasted oak with a lot of red berry fruit, dark plum, mild spiciness and an approaching complexity. Well integrated oak, tanins are already polished, some notes of coco powder a real long and opulent finish. Has a lot to offer. Delicious to drink today and can develop more in 5 to 6 years. This will be great with Japanses Yakitori, skewer of duck, or a nice piece of juice chicken marinated with that salty sensasion.. Delicious." Andreas Larsson - Best Sommelier of the World

Bordeaux “Cuvée des Ormeaux” 2008 (150 cl) Magnum

Bordeaux “Cuvée des Ormeaux” 2010 (150 cl) Magnum

70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec.

Ageing: 1 year in tank and 1 year in used oak barrels.

Powerful color with garnet hues. Complex and powerful nose. The aging in barrels brings toasty notes which blends harmoniously with black fruits and kirsh cherry. Full mouth and beautiful tannic structure.
