Sancerre
Domaine Georges Millérioux own 17 hectares in Amigny (2 miles from Sancerre) on clay-limestone soils, fragmented in different part of the appellation. Since 2008, Nicolas, the son, is back on his land. The eye and hands onto the vines and his iphone never far away. The giant pretend with a casual air to produce elegant and fine nice wines. His Sancerre Blanc Tradition shows the full characteristics and purity of the appellation with notes of boxwood, lemon and hints of fresh almonds on the nose. The palate is fresh, crisp with good acidity which lift the zesty fruit and freshness. The surprising Sancerre Blanc “La Reserve” comes from a single plot of great exposure to the sun and only produced when the vintage or nature allow the grapes to mature beautifully and the result reveals a fuller and round style with nose of grapefruit and exotic fruits on the finish. His Reserve Pinot Noir aged 6 months in oak, provides red berry fruits, a touch of cocoa powder, freshness and a slightly spicy finish. Some very good examples of Sancerre made by a very young wine maker.
